Here is a brief summary of my story!
On August 20, 1994 I was adopted from Hefei, China at 11 months old. I don’t know much about my life before adoption, but what I do know is that a police officer found me on a bench on Christmas eve of 1993. He brought me to an orphanage where I was given a name and a birthday. I lived there for 8 months until being adopted.
I grew up in a very loving, Christian family. I have a sister who is 3 years younger than me who is adopted from Vietnam, and she completed our family in August 1997. I grew up going to church every Sunday. I went to Sunday school, went to the church service, and went to private Christian schools from Kindergarten to 12th grade.
But being adopted can bring many burdens and hardships, including depression, anxiety, identity issues, a feeling of abandonment, unworthiness, and can even cause suicidal thoughts and tendencies. And as I grew up, I began to experience many of those hardships, and they continued to grow stronger. I had so many questions and many doubts towards God because I just wanted to find the answer to the one question: “Who am I?”.
Through the posts about my story, I hope that you find encouragement, hope, and the great reminder and knowledge that you are loved and adored by the King.
